Wraith Engine and a Photo Chamber

Almost there, the wraith engine nears completion. It is a beast, with many odd angles, but so far it has been a ton of fun to paint.
All that is left are the rags (which I don't quite understand why they are there) and the base.
I also built a completely free Photo Chamber! Yay for better picture quality!
Most of the idea came from Massive Voodoo's lightbox tutorial. Thanks guys!
I grabbed a white bucket, cut a hole in the front. Put the bucket on a clear binder (with a piece of paper inside) and placed a light behind/above the whole thing.
The white bucket diffuses the light, sending it everywhere and reducing shadows, making the entire inside glow. I might pick up a second light (to place one on either side) but I think this is good for now.
Using a bucket has another bonus; storage. To put it away, the binder blocks the hole and the light fits inside, genius!
Until next round, be well.

Dais of Doom - Finished

The Dais of Doom has finally been completed, and I am quite pleased with the results.
It was hard to keep the brush off the model, it just begged to be painted (and to go kill astartes...) Unlike many other minis, he just kind of zipped past the painting table.
I think I am finally getting the balance right between the different colors while keeping to the predominant bone tones.
Until next round...
Be well.

Space Elf's Giant Lizard

Well, well. Look who made it back to the painting table....
You might remember this guy from long ago, he is the chompy monster that my exodite dragon prince will ride into battle. It being the Year of Eldar, the dragon prince is one of those dusty projects that are being given some brush love.
Mr. Chompy is done, time to move to the rider. Even for a badly proportioned metal model, I really like him and think he turned out well, but we will see when everything else is done.
Until next round,
be well.

In Progress - Dais of Doom

With commissions on the go, Monday is designated "My Stuff Day". This gives me a chance to try to keep up with all the various projects that accumulate in the Rabbit Hole.
This Monday I made some progress with the Dais of Doom.
The more I look at this model, the more I like it.
The next steps are the blues, touching up and finishing the bone, then some markings and gems.
Poor guy, has no feet...
Until next round, be well.

Dais of Doom

As befitting a millennium old seer, my newest farseer stands atop a dais, flinging doom and storm and people.
The planning for this conversion has been on the drawing board for a while now, just needed the final bitz, so it was fast to put together. It fit together auspiciously smoothly, as if it was forseen...
He should be able to give those guardian jetbikes a much needed boost.
As you might have guessed already, the bitz were taken from a high elf chariot, support weapon platform, farseer (sans feet), shining spear antennae, and some extra heavy weapon bitz.
Hope you like him,
Ricalope.

Been Sleeping

...but still painting. It seems the painting table is an ever-changing plethora. These three warlocks are the last of the seer council, but now that I have finished these, I want to go back and touch up the others. D'oh, as they say.
magic dudes......magic dudes.....burn you with magic dudes.....
and purple too!
This guy is very serious about stuff...
I bet the fur keeps him warm.
Same pose, real hand!
With a cape!

Until next post, thanks for the look!

First of the Asurya

Asurmen is finished, he of the massive mohawk. I decided on using the turquoise on the pheonix armor, highlighted in a similar fashion to gems.
The rest of him, with the exception of the wraithbone, was kept black to match with the Dire Avengers of my craftworld. I am most happy with the way the blade turned out, I was going for a glassy effect, I think it turned out well.
And now my Dire Avengers just got nastier!

Rocket Clown ~ The Second

The blue clown, or clown number two, is table ready. There was an attempt to keep a color theme going with them, with white symbols.
The blue lines from the mime was turned into the main color of the bike, then orange squiggly lines were added. This means that the next rocket clown will be primarily orange, the problem is, what color to make the sqigglies.
I also have to figure out what the white design will be on the third (keeping in mind that the third one is the troupe master).
These are the things that keep me up at night. Have a good one,
Ricalope.

The Asurya

They are the six Phoenix Lords of the eldar, the Asurya, and they are ready for primer!
The first and eldest is Asurmen, founder of the Dire Avenger aspect as well as the Path of the Warrior itself. There are very few conversions here (Asurmen only had his banner cut down) save the little flappy bits.
Fuegan, founder of the Fire Dragon aspect and all-around pyromaniac. Each of these eldar nasties were given larger bases, as is befitting their awesome. I also attempted to capture a bit of each aspect on the bases as well.
Maugan Ra master of the Dark Reapers (this is actually my third Maugan as I used to play an Altansar army, R.I.P.) I believe this was the model that convinced me to play eldar (I went with the dark kin first, with a converted abomination of Mr. Ra). He is simple, angry and has damn cool armor (even the blood angels copied his, lolz).
Jain Zar, loudest of the Howling Banshees, and the worst model to try to pin to a base. I knew it was the girls who would be difficult to give bigger bases to, but that wasn't going to stop me. And now I need to get a unit of banshees....
Karandras, Lord of the Scorpions. He ousted the first scorpion phoenix, he has got the best helmet in the game, and has a superfluous chainsaw. What is not to like?
Baharroth is the youngest of the Phoenix Lords (and the codex always rubs it in), he is also the only one who can fly (imagine the pranks!) Like many eldar players, not a fan of Hawks, but give them hit and run... This prancing lord might get fielded along side Jaher and his spiders, I might even start liking his aspect.

Thanks for looking, (I will paint them soon I promise),
Ricalope.

The Sunstorm Project - Ready to Burn

The Sunstorm Squadron is table-ready. First, the squadron leader, Effector.
You might remember this project (from the mists of hobby a.d.d.), I didn't give up. The first post was here, and the second here.

Next, is Crysanthimum. He was built first and lurked about the Shelf of Shame for quite some time.

Third in the squadron is Muscaria.
His diamonds curl inward, symbolically opening the triangle for more prisms. (or some such thing...)

And here they are together.
Thanks for lookin',
Ricalope.
