Space Wolves - More Teeth

Another wave of Space Wolves are finished.  Some bloodclaws, grey hunters and great wolves.  There was some longfangs and tokens, but I seem to not have pictures of them.
In other news, the desklop I was previously using stopped making whirring noises so I am back on the loptop.  Which should explain why I haven't been on the book of faces lately.
GottaCon fast approaches, and minis need paint....
Until next round!

Space Wolves - Lord of Wolves

Every so often I get the chance to paint up a Forge World mini, and it is definitely something to look forward to.  In this case it is a terminator Wolf Lord with some pretty awesome armour.
This mini was converted by the client, with some weapon and head swaps and some added bitz.  I really like the fact that some action was conveyed in the pose (those older, static, terminators were boring).  Definitely looks like he is giving someone a good shield bash.
I am really enjoying the "Emperor's Executioners".  It is a chapter packed with details which make each marine an individual with each marine's armour telling some of the warrior's story (and the Norse-feel helps too).
Until next round, be well.

Space Wolves - For the Allfather

Progress.....progress everywhere but on the blog.   The posts are piling up faster than I upload them (which isn't very often, but it should be).  The Space Wolves are progressing, one of the most recent minis is the rune priest.
For those of you who don't know, a rune priest is a librarian of the Space Wolf chapter who completely denies that they use the warp.  In fact, they were the only legion to use psykers after the edict, because they claim their power comes from Fenris.  I suspect they let them because it is difficult to reason with space-viking-werewolves.
Either way, this guy has a bunch of Forgeworld bits.  I like the detail on resin, as well as the weight, but he seems like an old sculpt with his closed posture.  I remember the time when terminators hid their armpits...
Until next round, be well.

Space Wolves - Leading the Pups

This is the Great Wolf which leads the unit of Blood Claws.  Apparently they act like a bunch of teenagers without supervision.
This is just a quick post, more to paint (which is always good).  And yes, there are many more posts backing up.....

Until next round, be well.

Space Wolves - Younglings

Unlike more 'codex' chapters, the Space Wolves put their newest battle-ready recruits into power armour and send them into melee with the enemy to prove their worth.  It is odd, but given the 'Wolves nature it seems useful.  The Blood Claws tend to be the most psychopathic in combat.
This pack will be lead by a more veteran (and level-headed) great wolf.  At least I think that is what they are called, not 100% sure on that one.  He is the last of this batch, there might be a couple more things in the 'Wolves' future.

 Until next round...
...be well.

Space Wolves - Sneaking Around

The Space Wolf project is moving along, here is the scout unit all ready to outflank.
I enjoy painting scouts, it is kind of like painting guardsmen, there is more to them than regular marines with the undersuits and gear.
I really like the way the old metal scouts and the new(er) plastics are the same style.  They really mix in a unit well.
I opted for the classic tan undersuits, like most of the scouts I see wear.  There must be an STC somewhere....

 Until next round,
...be well.

Space Wolves - Unleash the Hounds

Here is the next unit for the Space Wolf project, a pack of Fenrisian Wolves.  These dogs are huge compared to other GW wolves.  I almost want to pick up five of these for unit fillers in my chaos hound packs.  No wolves on Fenris?
Until next round, be well.

Space Wolves - Wyrdmoon

I have a problem; I finish models faster than I can post them...so here is the most-recently painted Space Wolf.  The rune priest is a very fuzzy model (with fur covering most of his armour), but lacked many of the issues that most people report about finecast.  There were a couple of bubbles (mostly underneath the cloak) but the details are very crisp and deep.  It almost felt like painting a Forge World model.
The left shoulder pad was blank, so I went with a personal icon befitting his status, a wryding blood-moon.  And off I go into the next bath of Space Wolves starting with some 'actual' wolves....more fur!!
Until next round, be well.

Space Wolves - Meanwhile, on Fenris...

Finished off the second pack of Grey Hunters recently, and I'm warming up to the space puppies.  I am a sucker for minis with lots of details and these guys have them in spades.
They were all painted like the other pack, with one exception; the black/red triangles are reversed on the shoulder pads.  Hopefully this will help tell the two packs apart.
After these guys is a Rune Priest and then the first batch is done!
 Until next round....
....be well.

Space Wolves - Let The Dogs Out

Lack of posts can only mean one thing; lots of painting!  Here is the first pack of a new commission, some Grey Hunters.  These marines are painted in the same technique as the Flesh Tearers, but with some notable differences due to their Space Wolf nature.
These guys are from the Redmaw Great company, thus the bloodstained muzzles and faceplates.
I went with white painted sand for the snow bases.  I find that the GW snow is difficult to work with and turns yellow after a month.  It still looks frosty me thinks.
Compared to the Flesh Tearers, these guys have fewer purity seals and such, but a lot more other bits like armour details and fur bits all over the place.  The skin tones are darker (not so vampish) and the hair more varied in colours.  I am really liking the space-viking feel of these guys.
Until next round, keep painting!
