Ogrun bokurs are pretty useful, especially for Cryx, since they bring to the table a couple things they lack in-faction. These being shield guard and focus-free hitting power. It is likely that this guy will be following Hellbringer around.
Until next round, be well.

Cryx - Banes!!
Here is another staple in most Cryx forces; banes. This guy, Bane Lord Tartarus, is the character solo with the nasty little habit of bringing more thralls to the field as he kills things. I often just shoot him from afar.
And you can't really run Tartar(Sauce) without a mob of bane thralls.
Until next round, be well.

Cryx - The Canker
I've been remiss is posting, please forgive me, it has been very busy around the Rabbit Hole of late. A couple weeks ago was the holiday that should be; Day of the Lope. Also, the new queen of Ricalopia will be crowned soon so those preparations are reaching a boiling point. With all this I am still finding time to paint up a storm.
The next thing in the "Things to Post" list is the mighty Cankerworm for the bone and purple Cryx project. I think he looks pretty good in this colour scheme.
I must echo the sentiment of the client regarding this mini, that it is sad that Cankerworm is the only Cryx mini with an awesome base. I think there should be wreck marker like base inserts for other models too. This is why most of the characters are getting a cog or two on their bases, to tie them together visually.
Until next round, be well.

Cryx - Diabolic Duo
Part of the Cryx army that I have been looking forward to painting is the Hellbringer. I have already painted each incarnation of Aspy for my own Cryx force, but this time I get to try out a completely different pallet on him.
I am quite happy with the final result. A restricted colour scheme fits well on a model that could get too busy with all those details.
His little helper, Vociferon, is an added bonus. Such a happy little skarlock...
Until next round, be well.

Cryx - The Siren's Call
Here is another one for the purple Cryx project, the always useful warwitch siren. This is one of those solos that I often find room in my lists for, due to her power booster ability. She can give a focus to a 'jack, providing that it has no focus already. This can be useful for saving focus, or in tandem with a jack marshal, but not so much for her other abilities.
This colour scheme fits her well I think. It is a really nicely sculpted mini, even after the odd helmet she wears, and very Cryxian with the spikes and tattered skirt.
There is more to work on, so back to it...Until next round, be well.

Cryx - Soul Harvester
It is no secret that iron liches like souls, so it just makes sense to equip a slayer with a soul collecting apparatus. Erebus here is just that. I am not sure why I haven't picked him up and added him to my collection yet other than hobby-a.d.d.
Compared to the previous bonejack, I increased the amount of purple which I think helps create more contrast. I am starting to like this colour scheme!
Until next round, be well.

Cryx - Test Bonejack
Here is a test mini for an upcoming project. The idea was for a bone-coloured Cryx army with dark purple as a secondary colour. I recommended that the actual bones (like skulls and whatnot) be done a grey tone with thrall flesh as a highlight. The pink engine glow was his idea.
The little guy looks fine, but I think more purple is needed, just one more plate would have made it work better. Luckily, there are still three more bonejacks to work with.
Until next round, be well.

Cryx - Guardian for Hire
The ogrun bokur is a model that I have been planning to get for a while. Other things caught my attention, projects arose, and I often forgot to even look for one. At some point I saw him on a shelf and finally picked him up. Then he sat, collecting dust for a little bit, until I finally picked him up to work on him a little bit at a time.
This ogrun will be very useful for my Cryx solos so he can take the hits for them, my skarlocks approve. I haven't used him in a game yet, but I am plotting to soon.
Like most of my mercenaries, I deviated from the standard scheme of the hiring army. I felt like playing with some greens and applying multiple layers (which only partially worked out).
Until next round, be well.

Cryx - Death Machine Mark II
Every time I go to my FLGS this wraith engine stares at me, sitting lonely on a shelf collecting dust. After months of feeling sorry for the unbuilt construct, I adopted him.
Since the Cryx army has grown, and my techniques have evolved, the new wraith engine is painted with the new techniques. This differentiates the two of them, but only slightly.
This one is named Clifford, which is why I painted is shroud bits red.
With two of these monstrosities I am challenging myself to play one game with each caster, of which I have seven. It will be an interesting set of games...
I really like this model, and having two of them is simply coolness. The display cabinet agrees.
And a shot of the two of them...Until next round...

Mercenary Trolls
The troll army started with these chaps, the original sons of Bragg, Boomhowler and Company. This was the first batch of trolls due to them being mercs, and they accept payment in ale.
Boomhowler has proven his usefulness multiple times, not for hitting anything, but for bogging down enemy troops. His unit is a tarpit anyone can hire (almost).
I decided that all the trolls who trace their lineage to the great fellcaller wear the red tartans and have an affinity for brass armour.
There is a distinct lack of sculpts for this unit, complicated by the lack of pieces. More bits would allow more variations, which is something the mutlipart plastic kits have right. My plan for the next four is to mix bits with kriel warriors and such.
Of course, this doesn't mean they aren't fun minis. Like true mercs, they each carry a small keg and those guns scream close combat.
That's it for now......until next round.

The Dragon Slayer
It is no secret, I like liches, so naturally I had to pick up Venethrax. Besides being a really cool mini, I thought he would help with the Everblight infestation around here.
Even being an awesome model, it does not lend itself to reposing and he has webbed toes. I've also noticed that the exhaust vents stick out at a very weird angle, giving me concerns about breakage.
I have only used his once in a game so far, against Khador, and I still prefer Hellbringer as Venethrax doesn't have any battlegroup-wide spells. Lamentation is nice, but it seems preferable to Dragon Slayer (as self/upkeep spells only one can be active at a time). I do like the soul-taker capacity of this guy though, sweet yummy souls!
Oh, yeah. He makes corrosion effects not expire....cause that one point of damage makes all the difference...
Until next round!!
