A Day in the Life of Zaras

If you have been reading lately you might be familiar with Zaras. Today is his maiden battle, as well as the vyper and war walker from the last post. At the Rabbit Hole we were playing 1250 point matches, I decided to field a fast list.
The farseer deployed Zaras on the right flank during the first battle. The eldar were facing a marine force consisting of 42 loyalists, including sternguard and devastators.
The devastators were on the fire dragon's to do list, so into the mealstrom of heavy fire he happily flew. Many cover saves later, the dragons were deployed.
The mon-kieh responded with missile fire and an orbital bombardment. After also making many cover saves, their assault plan in tatters and the dragons fell back.
The right flank was bolstered by the timely arrival of the jetbike squadron (who wasted no time in assaulting them). Zaras ferried the remaining dragons to secure the rear objective. Now with both the devastators in combat, and the farseer and dire avengers dealing with the sternies, the focus was on the tactical squads.
The Master Captain and his marines were in Zaras' sights, but Chaplain Goldie was after the farseer. Storms of laser and shriuken fire strafed the building as the dragons secured the objective.
The farseer spent five rounds in combat with Goldie and his marines until the jetbikes arrived and he finally fell. The marines had been removed from the objectives, and the dragons held one.
The next skirmish was against Waagh! Sparky. Zaras quickly sped towards the deffdread, delivering its payload. As it flew to a safer distance the 'dread caught the pulse laser in one of its claws.
The orks attempted to rush the river, but with the dire avengers holding the landing pad/objective, and the roving skimmers, the eldar bank was secure. The fire dragons destroyed the 'dread with meltabombs, but were them killed by angry burnas.
The battle was a draw, on the seventh turn a warboss was tentatively holding the center objective, the dire avengers holding the other.

And that was a day in the life of a falcon named Zaras. Until next time,
Ricalope.

Oden Primary: Tempestus

The Imperial world of Oden Primary (the main habitable world in the Odin System) has been at war for more than a century. Between the great factory-hives lies a desolate and scarred wasteland. The planet`s only remaining forests circle the equator, this dense hyper-tropic jungle is known as the Belt. There are four main hives on Odin; Tempestus, Vaust, Chemrol, and the ork-contested Rendus. The hives of Vaust and Tempestus are home to most of the world`s tank manufactoriums, and are ranked as high priority by the Munitorium.
Tempestus, for unknown reasons, has been relatively untouched by war with the exception of a few xenos raids. Its bastions are intact and PDF untested in battle. To the north is the fuel producing Hive Rendus, and to the south lies the jungles of the Belt. Of late, reports from Rendus have been scattered, and recently the hive was completely cut off to all communications. Recon patrols have reported warp related disturbances near pre-crusade ruins in the Belt. The Ordo Malleus and The Daughters of Odin have been notified of these troubles.
South-eastward of Tempestus, mechanicus priests have begun unearthing what they believe to be eldar ruins. They were first alerted by seemingly random energy flares in the region and set to investigate. Once established, the research faculty has been attacked by the xenos as well as daemonic forces repeatedly. A regiment of PDF has been sent to establish a garrison.

Unknown to the six billion civilians of Tempestus, war is coming. Waaagh ryan approached from the broken hive Rendus, and the Scream Walkers chaos marines strike from the south. The eldar presence if keenly felt, hunting daemon and human alike. Convoys of 609th armour have been sent by Inquisitorial high command. Outside the hive tales of things that stalk the night, and viral quarantines circle each other.

Battle at the River

A while ago the eldar of Craftworld Apseraph encountered a large force from Waaagh! Ryan. The eldar, being a small and mobile swordwind, were outnumbered four to one. I would like to report of a glorious battle and victory against the odds, nut sadly, this is not the case. The sheer amount of attacks the surviving orks had (even after storms of shuirkens) was unstoppable.

By the third turn what remained of the eldar force was not enough to gain a victory. The Autarch targeted the warboss, commanding the remaining eldar firepower at his bodyguard upon the warp gate. The two foes, having fought before, failed to kill each other. With the battle going to the orks, the remaining eldar slipped away.
