Flesh Tearers - Mark the Spot

Here is the first of a bunch of upcoming posts (no posts means lots of painting!)  This is a simple mini, the teleport homer, and there isn't much to say about it really.
Until next round (which should be soon....), be well.

High Elves - Objective

Every army needs some counters!  These could be used for wounds, captured standards, objectives, and all kinds of other things that need to be marked.  Next for the elves; elf chicks with magical bows!
Until next round, be well.

Trolls - A Worthy Objective

Every army needs an objective right?  I had found this alluring mini and thought "this would make a nice light snack for my trolls!"  Armed with cork, foam, a cd and some basing materials, I put together "lunch".
The backstory goes something like this; the trolls take the fairest (and therefore tastiest) woman in the nearest village and tie her to a stick.  Her clothes are removed to reveal choice cuts, which makes the hungry trolls agitated.  The troll who survives and kills the most of the enemy is rewarded with roasted maiden after the battle.  The rest of the trolls get to pick over the battlefield for other morsels of food and any lost limbs or whelps.
I guess it gives an opposing (human) force reason to save her, or other factions to get the snack first.  Either way, it is fun to place it on any table and watch my opponent's reaction.
The carvings on the stone roughly translate into "food, here."
 Until next round....
...be well.

Witch Hunters - Have Some Faith

To help out with remembering things, I made some simple faith markers for the sisters as well.

Those little back-banners for space marines don't look right to me, and I doubt they make disembarking very easy, so I had a few lying around.  I glued them to bases, changed a couple of the banner tops, and instant faith!  I tried to keep them varied, some are from the old templar's kit, and based the designs on the 'parent' faithful unit.
Until next round....

Trolls - Foots

I often forget to use my feat.  It has happened time and time again.  But no-longer, for I have found a solution!  A wander through the bitz box (on the hunt for something completely different) I struck upon an awesome idea.
Leftover from the plastic GW giant were a couple of feet, too big for most other conversions, but the wheels were turning.  The trolls use barrels (from Pegasus games) to mark their fury, so I attached the feet, some plastic stacks, and hair (for smoke).  After a bit of greenstuff it was good to go.
Now, once per game, my warlock can summon the automated feats to follow them around causing good stuff to happen.
Until next round, be well.

Iron Lich Asphixious

Once a druid of the Circle, this iron lich has upgraded and joined Lord Toruk's party. His name is Asphixious and he is one of the most iconic warcasters in the Iron Kingdoms. He often pops up in the awesome rulebook fluff as he has a lot of nefarious plans to fulfill. In his pre-epic incarnation (yet to enslave a lich lord and raise an epic 'caster of is own) he is pretty bad-ass with a feat that refills his focus AND hurts everyone close to him. He rocks a monocle, hangs with undead ladies, and he has joined my Cryxian horde!
I will likely be using him as my main 'caster (with the Iron Lady as my secondary). I get evil chuckles whenever I read his stat card; sustained attack + feat + teleport. Cankerworm and him have a lot of fun on the battlefield, the little fella is an essential to any Asphxious list. His stats are decent, for a dead guy, and his other spells are lackluster but all-around-useful.
Nice rules and all, but the mini sells the whole package. It isn't over the top (like his epic self is) but regal and commanding. He has the presence of a leader who choses who, when and where he fights. He has a plan.
The 'classic' version suits me best, being thinner and not in motion like the 2010 version. Staying in the fluff (I am a rabbit after all) all my 'casters belong to Asphixious' mainland invasion deep in the Thornwood. All that remains of the army is Deathjack, a machine wraith, two necrotechs and a handful of zombies.
I also put together a marker, which will be used to represent the parasite spell. The ball and fire are putty mounted on a paperclip wire. The fun part was the spiral on the orb. There are still a few counters to make, I just can't resist making a complete set....
More soon, until next round.

Slow News Day

The guy in the chair from the Space Hulk box, still waiting for the serf to bring him a new roll...
But, he is finished! After taking these pictures I noticed that his robes/litany were too pale, so they have since been washed. Jokes aside, this was a fun model to paint with consistent details to the other terminators.
...still waitin'...
Until next round, be well.

Wraith Engine - Before the Primer

As soon as the putty dries, painting will begin. Many of the cracks were in very deep recesses, which were annoying to get to.
The arms will be attached after painting, that way I will be able to get his under-parts. His arms are not too heavy, and hopefully using just p3 glue will work (it has with everything else...) I did bend the fingers, one is pointing at his next lunch, and posed them in that creepy undead crookedness.
And since I had putty left over, I put some flames on the prototype focus point marker.

Until next round, be well.

Vampires Next Door, Encore

Just a quick commission, a couple of grave markers.
Be well...

Souls!

I got the soul tokens finished last night....

The Next Wave

Now that all of the primed Cryxians are painted, it is time to build the rest of the ones I have. Leading the pack is Sean, the Seether.
Like the rest of the models on this post, he needs his base done (sand, gaps, tubes, etc), but he is otherwise ready for primer.
The only conversion on Sean is his helmet, which he stole from a chaos defiler. The original one didn't sit right with me.
The pistol wraith I picked up at GottaCon (lots of coverage here). Yet again, another deciding factor to play Cryx, this mini is awesome.
And I also picked up the Master Necrotech. As she is a million peices (and will be converted), I began with her skarlock; Deryliss. He so creepy.
This mini is smooth, with great detail, so no conversion here. I did raise him from his base (like Loki), but with the help from a I-beam, so they look similar.
And lastly, Warmachine requires a few counters, so the first set I have made are soul tokens. I mounted the souls from Deathjack and Asphyxious to 40k bases (to mark them out as counters). The next ones I have thought up are corpse and focus counters.

See you when the sun don't shine,
Ricalope.

Some of This, Some of That

I couldn't stand having this thing glaring at me from across the room for too long, so the other day I painted it. It has some good height to it, making it fit rather snugly into the city.
I used super-cheap paint, which made it look really good in some areas, but it clumped up (or hid) from others. Overall, for a terrain piece, it turned out pretty good.

It needed...more. To answer this I made up some banners on my computer, printed them off, singed, then glued.
I also finished off two more Imperial objective markers made from bastion bitz.

Oh, and this rabble is a handful of chaos marauders that got some paint this weekend. Yes, green torches, they do worship Tzeentch after all....
Until next time, keep breathing,
Ricalope.

Doomy!

Just a small update today regarding everyone's favourite xenos; eldar. The Avatar has had its base done, just awaiting grass.
This squad of Fire Dragons has been hanging around for a while now, finally they are ready for varnishes. I had attempted a smouldering look to their armour which was surprisingly easy to do.
And this is Doomy, the wraithboy. Doomy gets to follow enemy models around, dooming them to a doomy doomness. He also represents the farseer power: doom.

Until the next break in warp storms, be well.
Ricalope.
