Cygnar - As Played by Bruce Campbell

My Cygnar army has a theme; lots of guns.  So it was obvious that I would go with Caine as my primary 'caster.  In his background, he is portrayed as the most shady and independent warcaster in the kingdom, which suits me fine.  After a few games with the Lt. it was hard to use any other Cygnar 'caster, he is pretty solid.  I'm looking forward to picking up his epic version, just for gunfighter if nothing else.
I would like to see a live-action Warmachine movie, and I think the talented Bruce would be an obvious choice for Caine.
Until next round, be well.

Cygnar - Special Ops

I am a big fan of the 3 character units and the Black 13th is definitely one of the most versatile (for my needs at least.) Since I am basing my Cygnar army around arcane tempests, they were an automatic addition.  I was glad for it because they are some very well detailed models (although a bit small compared to the rest of the line.)
On the table it is Ryan who does all the hard work (magestorm), while the others finish off whatever is leftover.  With all of these guns I am going to have to make an ammo carriage soon....
Until next round, be well.

Cygnar - Shield Bearer

I like bullets, so any gun with multiple barrels is welcome in my Cygnar list.  The sentinel also has a nifty bonus by having the shield guard rule, which helps to protect my 'caster/solos from nasty sniping shots.
Sadly, using shield guard is the only thing it has done on the battlefield (and when you couple that with me forgetting he has it).  The lancer usually gets more done on the field than this guy.  Not a problem though, as I often take them both.
Recently, the sentinel has become more of a back-up plan.  With my opponents busy dealing with tempests and the cyclone, the sentinel gets overlooked, often able to make a decent slam attack.
Until next round, be well.

Cygnar - Tiny Robot

Cygnar uses a lot of warcaster support, the squire here is a good example of that.  This little 'bot effectively raises the focus on a 'caster by one, which is really handy.  It also is a fun mini to work on.
The squire paints like a 'jack, just a really small 'jack...without arms.  I kind of hope that there will be 'lesser' 'jacks in the future for either Cygnar or Convergence.
Until next round, be well.

Cygnar - Bring the Thunder

This is the main reason I like Cygnar; Arcane Tempest gun mages.  Commonly known in this house as the "Cool Hat Club" (and "Those Bastards" by my enemies).
Apart from being an essential unit in my army, these minis will likely see some time on a hex-map for use in rpg's as well.
The unit was painted with heavy amounts of green, like the rest of my Cygnar, and some blue to tie them in.  These guys were really fun to paint up with lots of details and some nice folds in the coats.
I also picked up the UA at the same time, which should be a given since he makes the unit much better (true sight is win).  The UA is also a 'jack marshal able to give his 'jack the same ammo types as the unit.  I am thinking of giving them the cyclone.
Another post down, many to go.
Until next round, be well.

Cygnar - Caster In Training

I have a pretty solid plan for this army.  A large part of that plan is to have most of my 'jacks controlled by 'jack marshals and a journeyman warcaster (or two).  This will allow my main 'caster (Stryker/Caine/Sturgis) to use his focus for important 'caster things.  The other part of the plan is gun mages, more on them to follow.
After a couple of test runs, I am liking the advantage of some extra focus and an additional arcane shield.  So far, the best results are pairing her with the charger and hanging behind the main battlegroup, but I think my opponents will get wise to that soon.
Of course, there is more to come.  Until next round be well.

Cygnar - The First Step

I recently got the Cygnar Battlegroup into my dirty hands.  I know, they aren't trolls or Cryxians, but I have a couple of really good reasons for starting up the boys (and girls) in blue.
The first reason is that we have a new FLGS; Everything Games which is only a couple blocks from my home!  During a Warmachine night, we convinced them to start up a Journeyman League.  As you can see, I chose Cygnar.
I have assembled a lot of starter boxes since 1994, and I am used to the single poses and flat sculpts with little or no motion.  Warmachine battle boxes come with the same models you buy separately, there is no loss of quality just for starting out.  They don't come with extra bits (which is not  PP thing) but the plastic sculpts are loaded with detail and movement.
This is the Ironclad, the battlegroup's beatstick.  Like most of the warjacks, there is some room for posing (in the arms) and it fits together really well.
I am usually an proponent of alternate colour schemes, it makes my army stand out while letting me play with colour combinations.  I chose green for these, with the blue and tan on the upper surfaces.  From the top (which is the angle they are usually seen) there is enough blue that they are easily recognized  as Cygnar.
Every surface with a Cygnus (the swan symbol) was done blue as well, to reinforce the allegiance.
At first I was unsure of how they would look, but I was undeterred.  Once they were finished and based I grew to like them fast.  It proves that it is worth it to hold off any judgement until the model is finished.  These guys almost got a bath in Simple Green, I'm glad I didn't.
I've used them a few times, and I am slowly getting used to the play style (no first turn running?!?!?)  And I am enjoying every minute of it.  I am looking forward to the league progressing, learning a new army and facing new opponents, both of which will help me learn more about the game.
Cygnar light 'jacks are completely different than bonejacks.  They are only marginally lesser than a heavy, and often armed with awesome weapons.  It is interesting to play a faction with decent technologies.
The second reason for collecting a new faction is to build a "house army", thus the RHG stencils on the armour.  They will be for anyone to use and to defend RHG in any team-based tournaments.  This battlegroup specifically will be used for demo games as well.
The box consists of 11pts, like most battlegroups.  Once I add all the mercenaries that will work for Cygnar I have 46pts!  I love mercenaries!!
My third reason is slightly more exciting (well I am excited at least).  I have applied to become a Press Ganger and spread the good word of Warmachine.  This is my second battlegroup (the first is the Cryx box), you can't run demos with only one battlegroup!  The application is in, and I wait with baited breath...
The warjacks got a "tabletop quality" paintjob, while Coleman received a character-grade job which is an extra layer of highligts.  He also got more blue, which really makes him stand out in the group (that and his red hair).
In other news, I am creeping ever closer to becoming a full-time hobbyist.  The only bad part about that is my commission prices will have to go up on new projects, not by much, but enough to pay rent.  An update about that soon.
Until next round, be well.
