Flesh Tearers - Hate the Alien

Here is the last of the Flesh Tearer infantry, the tenth member of the last tactical squad, and a member of the Deathwatch.  I painted him separately from the rest of his squad due to his black armour.
All that is left for the 'Tearers is a couple of Stormravens which are waiting for some brass etch to arrive and then they are done.  It has been a long journey but an enjoyable one.  I'm going to miss the red and black.
It also seems that you, the readers, have also enjoyed this project.  The Flesh Tearers are some of the most viewed posts on Ricalopia, they even come up on the first page of Google image searches.  Thanks for being with me so far, I think you are going to like the 'ravens.
Until next round, be well.

Witch Hunters - We Do What We Want

A command squad needs a fitting transport.  They need something that stands out as much as it purges heretics.  The answer is the redeemer.  Apart from its name, the redeemer has many witch-hunting qualities, specifically the flamethrowers.
Of course I did add almost an entire sister's vehicle sprue (and a set or two of putty molds) to keep the church feel.  Switching the front weapons, I was able to use the immolator turret, which gives it a better field of fir with the better gun.
This rules violation is backed up by the fact that it is the inquisition, and they have the authority.  This is the same reason my witch hunter inquisitor rides a valkyrie.  That and it is fluffy, and fluffy wins here.
All the guns move, and the hatches open, which was a pain.  (This was back before I learned a bunch of tricks I know now.)
(More words here.)
Both of my inquisition land raiders are powered by the pain of penitents.  They are cheaper than fossil fuels and easier to aquire.
 Until next round...
...be well.

Witch Hunters - Battle Command

At the core of the Daughters of Odin is the palatine and confessor with their celestian bodyguard.  Converted and painted years ago, before washes and osl, I am still pretty proud of this unit.  A ton of putty went into molds for the purity seals and inquisition bling, and the bitx box was thoroughly purged.
Leading the squad is a palatine with powersword and meltapistol.
The stormshield is to represent any armour-buffing wargear she buys (and it gave me an excuse to add more bling).
After using my witch hunters for some time, I realized I hadn't used the cannoness (in the Ordo Hereticus), and I happened to have a spare.

Confessor Smirnoff is older than any of the sisters, he started off in Inquisitor Bacardi's retinue before leading a Cawdor gang, who eventually evolved into a redemptionist gang.  He then joined the Daughters of Odin and has since spent time in the company of the 609th and several inquisitors of the Ordos Malleus and Hereticus.

 "The Backhand of the Emperor."

Squad command falls to the celestian superior.  The old black templar sprues were a major source of bitz for the whole army.

Flamers, of course there would be fire!

The unit and army imagifiers.  Amping up the faith....

These minis were the first time I tried sculpting gas masks.  These ones look like fugglespatch.  I would like to think I have improved some, but luckily there is a larger range of cool masks now (if one looks hard enough).
Until next round, be well,

Grey Knights - Last Squad...

...for now.
Here are the other half of the power-armoured Grey Knights, and the last of a nice little commission.  There are currently no marines on the project table, but I am sure that will change soon.
I like painting marines, they can get done fairly quick and they look good as a cohesive force.  The only time consuming part is the armour, and then it is just purity seals and details for the most part.
I've done these Grey Knights' armour as simple as possible (being a table top quality job).  I started with cold steel (P3), washed with drakenhoff nightshade (gw), and highlighted it with chainmail (gw).
Once they were all ready, (and pictures were taken), I sprayed them with purity seal (gw) which dulled down the metallic effect to an agreeable level.  I gloss varnished all the blades and plasma coils after the spray.
It is entirely likely that there will be more GK's in the future, fate will tell...
 Until next round
Be well.

Witch Hunters - The Angels

No Sisters of Battle force is complete without a seraphim squad and a living saint to lead them.  Also, this is my 400th post on Ricalopia!!  (Has it been that long?!?)
Jezebel is my primary HQ at the rank of Cannoness.  When St Celestine was released, I knew something had to be done to that beautiful mini.  With the exception of the combi-flamer, all the additional bitz are from daemons.  Azeal wings, Lord of Change front cloaks, and the Avatar's Wailing Doom.  The flowers didn't make the cut.
All of the purity seals and skulls are from putty molds, I must have done a hundred sets for the whole army. Completely worth it!
I have never run her as the saint, I prefer to make my own personalities for my armies, but she has definitely proved her worth on the battlefield.  Even with the pins she has broke a few times, and since she is all metal I have touched her up twice.

Her seraphim number nine, only because I can't find the last one anywhere.  The squad has as much fire as I could load them with, it is kind of their thing after all.
Back soon with an update post...
...until next round.

Grey Knights - Fire Support

With the servitors I was able to get away from all the shiny metals, a bit.  Like many commission models, these arrived already converted (a combination of Cryxian mechanithrall and space marine plasma arms).  They make a simple and effective couple of fleshbots.
The marines all have some type of heraldry on their shoulders, so the servitors also have some identifiers in the form of a cog-rune device.  The skin was done "borg-style" with greys and rotten flesh, complimented with mechanicum red.  The plasma effect was done similar to the blades of the knights, light red to orange, which I think turned out ok.
One squad left!!  Until next round, be well.

Witch Hunters - Have Some Faith

To help out with remembering things, I made some simple faith markers for the sisters as well.

Those little back-banners for space marines don't look right to me, and I doubt they make disembarking very easy, so I had a few lying around.  I glued them to bases, changed a couple of the banner tops, and instant faith!  I tried to keep them varied, some are from the old templar's kit, and based the designs on the 'parent' faithful unit.
Until next round....
