Warp Wednesday Two: 100 Happy Guardsmen

Welcome to the second Warp Wednesday. This issue is about planetary defense. My planet is named Odin Primary, an industialized world with a heavy Inquisitorial presence. With the Planetstrike book out, I decided it was time I bolster my defenses.

The Odin planetary Defense Force (or simply the OPDF) is a collection of models from many ranges including Necromunda, Mordenhiem, all Imperial Guard ranges and some other stuff. The army is a infantry heavy army with few upgrades, the only vehicles are for support. The army is relying on artilery as it grows.

The fortress itself (Sector IV-XX) is made from two bastions and the door and floor sections from a sanctum imperialis. With the bitz left over, I made a few strategems. The power generator is made from four bastion corners, cut down lamps and some of the command post bitz (seen with the snipers). A void shield generator was made from the a command post turret base, two eagles (from the sanctum) and inverted lamps (seen on the first level of the fortress). A godhammer lascannon was found, then mounted upon two of the turret bases and a till tape roll. Fido, a ballistic missle pod, was made from a SM dreadnought`s missle launcher and a bastion lascannon.

My favorate part of Sector IV-XX is the barracades. They are cut from plasicard, with crochet net on top of the raised platform (cavalry bases), and supported with gas cans and ammo. I made six feet of them for almost free.

The other item of note is the objective markers, they are the brass statues standing on stone. These were the easiest markers to make that I own.

There are a couple of strange looking tanks here and there, I will explain. The big square one with the dozer blade is a ragnarok made for me by a friend. The even bigger one is a half-scratch super heavy I call a Ciaphas Vanquisher, basically a banablade without the bane.

The little one (that looks like a truck, last picture) is my version of a centaur with armored crew compartment. the centaur is my favorate scratch built tank (I might spotlight it one day). The centaur is attatched to a thudd gun, which was given to me, it is one of the old metal ones, now that I know how to scratch build better I might make two more with centaurs.

Well, that concludes this issue. I hope you enjoyed it.

Urban Assault in Sector IV-XX

Agents of the Inquisition have become aware of the Scream Killers legion (belonging to this person here) establishing a command post in the hive.
In response, Inquisitor Jack Daniels and a Daughters of Odin response team engage the heretics. The Inquisitor's valkyrie, Coil, drops in as the first daemons are summoned.
The witch hunter convoy moves out along the road towards the traitors. At this point most weapons are out of range, there is much yelling.
The penitent engines, under heavy fire, spot Mr. Spikey (a defiler) and charge ahead. One is destroyed before combat, the other ripping the defiler's arm off before exploding.
A fiend assaults the arco-flagellants, neither of which wound each other. The fiend gallops away to assault something else.
At the crossroads in the center, the stormtrooper's rhino becomes a crater. The remaining troopers face a daemonette charge and are wiped out. They will be remembered...
The seraphim squad leap onto the walkways in an attempt to get to the chaos command. Below; ROBOT FIGHTING!!!
Dorani, princess of Slaanesh faces Jack, using "His Will Be Done" the daemon is sent back to the warp. The burning husk of the immolator sits in the distance, the dominions having already jumped clear and disabled the chaos dreadnought.
As the arco-flagellants stem the charge of a rhino full of khorne berserkers, the Callidus taunts the daemons after killing the fiend, her C'tan sword cleaving daemons like cream cheese. The arco's managed to reduce the berserkers to three before dying.
The chaos terminators make their way down the road spitting gunfire at anything in sight.

At the center of the table a unit of horrors appeared in the machanicus building spitting fire at the Imperial objective.
The Callidus charges the remaining furies, as the cannoness's redeemer, Lucia, thins the deamonette's numbers.
At the crossroads, the cannoness and celestian bodyguard assault the chaos sorceror and terminators. Confessor Smirnoff survived three combat rounds with the sorceror himself. Eventually faith prevailed, and the backhand of the Emperor! The dominions melted the defiler, then began moving up to the walkways and command building.
A unit of daemonettes appeared beside the Imperial chapel, Jack was sent to dispatch those daemons who survived the shooting. At the end, he was without retinue, surrounded by daemonettes...
...while the Cannoness and Confessor take the chaos Command.
On a sad note, Coil was shot down by a trio of obliterators, on the final turn. It really made a mess of a perfectly good building.

Overall, this game was one of the best I have played recently. 3,000 points of witch hunters against 1,500 points of daemons and marines. The game could have gone either way, and no clear winner was seen until the very last turn. (Sorry for the dark pics).

Until next time,
Lord Inquisitor Ricalope.

Warp Wednesday One (Harlequins)

Welcome to a weekly segment I thought I would try; Warp Wednesday. I just thought you all could use a little break in the middle of the week, so here it is. Each week I will showcase a unit, vehicle or monster from my collection. Along with pics I might post a gaming-related rant, some background or fluff, enjoy!
I couldn't figure out who should have the honour of the first showcase, so I asked my roommate who she thought was deserving. The answer; harlequins.
Three of my troupe are mimes, because mimes are freaking scary.
I kept the weapons and armor bone to try and tie them into the rest of the army (I use lots of wraithbone), on the mimes, this creates a good contrast to the black and red.
The rest of the troupe are multicolored (of course) and almost covered with diamonds.
After a couple games I came to the realization that more diamonds equals more killyness.
So I spent another week just on diamonds....
It made my head hurt, I kept seeing diamond patterns over everything...
The shadowseer and death jester, these are a couple of my favorite eldar models.
The death jester is one of the only black primed models in the army, where as the shadowseer the most colorful.
And the troupe leader, Dyscathi. He is named after a master vampire ninja, there is no resemblance. This model is much older than any of the others, with the exception of his head and back thingy (the tall one), I had built and painted him 5-6 years ago. When the troupe master in the box set made me angry I chopped it up and promoted this one. He is made with a guardian body, old guardian arm, warlock "legs" and sword, troupe master head, dark eldar pistol and a old dire avenger tabbard.
I hope you enjoyed this one, I will save you a rant this week, (you might not be so lucky next time though). Every glance is appreciated.

Psykic Chior (Finished!!!)

Finally, the psyker choir I built a while ago is finished. To be truthful, I like these conversions so much I will be making another five with the plastic Cadian command squad (hopefully there will be enough bitz leftover for my 2nd veteran unit).
Blue is the uniform color of those who have psykic abilities in the 609th, so the entire robe was made blue. To tie the choir in with Artois (Primaris Psyker), the same lightning bolt design was used on the hems.
The backpacks are possibly my favorate parts of the models, they were simple to make, and effective.

Well, C&C welcome, and thanks for looking,

Slaughter at the River

The eldar began with the jetbikes turbo-boosting up the river while the warwalker took aim at the land raider.
The marines deployed scouts on the factory gantry, enabling them to get line of sight on most of the table.
The terminators spot the scorpions lurking in the water and keep them under fire.
The scorpions sneak forward, intent on killing some marines.
The jetbikes get into range of the scouts, and antagonize the dreadnought.
The left flank of the eldar advance towards the terminators, drawing the attention of the landraider.
The jetbikes give the scouts more ninja stars than they can handle, but two persist on the rooftop.
Dire avengers deploy to confront the doomed terminators as the scorpions regroup after taking severe casualties. The warwalker wrecks the landraider, making the tactical squad and chaplain inside very angry.
The dire avengers are assaulted by the tactical marines, chaplain and two surviving terminators.
With the dire avengers and farseer dead, the marines look towards the scorpions.
The jetbikes race toward the left flank hoping for vengeance.
The marines kill all the scorpions with minimal casualties. The last terminators get shot down by the wave serpent.
The jetbikes race past the immobilized warwalker as it destroys the dreadnought.
The scouts, still alive, finally take down the vyper which was harassing them the whole game.

The scenario was an annihilation: marines scored 4 kill points, the eldar 3 kill points. A narrow victory for the marines....this time.....
