GFR - IKE

After a long wait, I.K.E. is finally ready to conquer the tabletop. With plasma executioner in one hand, and thermal cannon in the other, he is one mean robot.
I intentionally left most of him dark, with the exception of the red and yellow, so the eye is drawn to the color and markings.
His base is really simple, but I think the result is effective, placing him in a warehouse/industrial setting.
Since I took these pics I have added some glowy green to the inside of the plasma as well as scorches on the other gun. He needed it.
I will be posting a datasheet for him on RHG.
Hope you like him, Ricalope.

Souls!

I got the soul tokens finished last night....

The Next Wave, Part Two

I finally finished assembling Deathjack. What a heavy chunk of pewter he is.
I did make him a little bigger than normal, as his leg/body ration was annoying me. I used some plastic tubes here and there and a liberal amount of putty.

Here is a size comparison with a slayer...as I said, he is huge!
The stitch thralls. For some odd reason there are only two sculpts for these little guys. So I had to convert one of the duplicates. Awww...zombie kids....
And here are the brute thralls for the mechanithrall unit. There was much repositioning of arms, resculpting muscles and pinning/swearing. But they are ready for paint!
All that is left (that I own) with the exception of Mortembra and a bunch of counters.

Until next lapse,
Ricalope.

The Next Wave

Now that all of the primed Cryxians are painted, it is time to build the rest of the ones I have. Leading the pack is Sean, the Seether.
Like the rest of the models on this post, he needs his base done (sand, gaps, tubes, etc), but he is otherwise ready for primer.
The only conversion on Sean is his helmet, which he stole from a chaos defiler. The original one didn't sit right with me.
The pistol wraith I picked up at GottaCon (lots of coverage here). Yet again, another deciding factor to play Cryx, this mini is awesome.
And I also picked up the Master Necrotech. As she is a million peices (and will be converted), I began with her skarlock; Deryliss. He so creepy.
This mini is smooth, with great detail, so no conversion here. I did raise him from his base (like Loki), but with the help from a I-beam, so they look similar.
And lastly, Warmachine requires a few counters, so the first set I have made are soul tokens. I mounted the souls from Deathjack and Asphyxious to 40k bases (to mark them out as counters). The next ones I have thought up are corpse and focus counters.

See you when the sun don't shine,
Ricalope.

Fester's New Cup!

When I re-entered GottaCon, I was very surprised to find the 3rd place award for the large model category sitting behind Fester. I am so proud of him, thanks Dice Bag Games!

What the....

The winner of the poll, to see what kind of cyber-beastie my mercenary captain will have as a pet, is a BEAR! Congratulations to all the bear supporters out there (you rhino people make me sad). Sadly, Phillip will not be the raging-death-machine in the army (shown above), it will be a very odd conversion/scratchbuild thing....
The Smiley Face Mercs got an odd little boost; beastmen. Just some hand-swapping with some chaos marines (with the arrow bits shaved off). The hands are cut at the 'glove' cuff and just above the bracer of the arm, then glued together. The chestplates are sculpted from putty (more needs to be done to the backs).
To complete the unit, a minotaur and a de-orkified trukk are needed...

Lord Asphyxious

When you think about it, necromancy really is the way to go.
Lord Asphyxious has been lurking around for at least a year now, supervising the Cryxian builds and waiting for the next coat of paint. During this last Cryx binge he got finished.
As you might be able to tell, the color scheme also denotes rank. The few models with a strong red (like on robes) are warcasters and their chosen (like Loki), this will make them stand out from the undead horde. The runes on the bases both mark the unit type as well as the front facing.
The war for Caen may begin.

Chickenjacks and Zombies

Yes, the chickenjacks are done. Well, this one is called a defiler, I name him Spit.
The hobby a.d.d. kicked in, and it seems that I painted all the primed Cryx models I had around. Of course this just means that I need to build the other Cryx models around here.
These are the other two, rippers named Bite and Chew.
Warmachine models are really too much fun to paint. I blame my current state of hobby a.d.d. on PP now.
I promised zombies, didn't I? I also finished the first six of my converted thralls. These guys are mechanithralls, baseline steam-zombies.
I took some plastic GW zombies, added some plasticard tubes and rods and a sprinkling of rivets. The furnaces are sculpted with putty. I'm not 100% happy about the furnaces, but then again, they are just mechanithralls.
Although they are not tournament legal, they are cheap and easy to do. Also, since the two warcasters I have selected are Lord Asphixious and Lady Mortenbra, these little zombies don't fit into any tier list above two (the Lady's).
Until next time, watch out for mercenary beastmen,
Ricalope.

Warp Wednesday 21: Warchallenge Announce!

Warchallenge is the first contest (held by the Rabbit Hole) this year. The challenge is to amass a 15 point battlegroup (or warpack) for Warmachine (or Hordes) by April 23rd.
There are two ways to enter, the best is to come down to the Rabbit Hole (if you are in the area that is) and the second would be to email your entry to rabbitholezero@gmail.com. What needs to be included are pictures of the battlegroup (or the battlegroup itself). Any background (fluff), counters or other thingies that associate with the battlegroup are welcome.
All participants (and any spectators) will be voting for the winner. A form will be posted along with each of the entrants at Rabbit Hole Games.

The winner will be declared the following Warp Wednesday. The prize? I will assemble and paint a heavy warjack (or warbeast) and send it to the winner, and bragging rights of course.

Best of luck to you,
Ricalope.

Dragonfather Rising: Skarlock

This is my finished skarlock, Loki. This model was another of the things that brought me over to Warmachine.
Loki was one of those models I couldn't put down once I started, so he got finished fast. Even though he didn't take long, I am happy with the result.
The original model had no 'stacks, and I think he looks much happier with a couple.
The undead legion now counts in at 15 points...I think a game is called for soon.
