Khador - The End?

The dirty Khadorians, a long project that is finally done.
Included in the army is an objective (from the Warmachine objective set), which was finished just in time for GottaCon.  Hopefully that big barrel of coal was useful!
This wave also saw some Iron Fang cavalry (called 'Uhlans') as well as the solo; Markov.
Markov was my favourite of all the cavalry, I seem to prefer the standing poses for horses compared to the leaping ponies.

Also, keeping with the lance theme, a spriggan.  I roughed this 'jack a little more than the others.  I have been using the packing foam (from blister packs) to splotch on the chips in the paint, which is both fun and effective.
Those long lances pose a problem on the tabletop, so each one has a long pin, allowing for easy removal when charging.  I was going to replace the pin with some magnets, but they fit very tight, so the pins stayed.
Is this the end of Khador posts?

Not a chance!
Until next round, be well.

Khador - Artillery

The "dirty Khadorians" have a couple of these in the list.  So many winterguard...
Just a quick post, be well.

Khador - A Little Bit of Necromancy

Here is another model for the Northern Army; Alexia.  Of all the older Privateer sculpts, this one is one of my favourites.
One of the most fun parts was her sword, which was an attempt at a glowing black blade.  It wasn't a complete success, but I am happy with it.
I also gave her a flash of red so she would have some tie-in with the rest of the army, otherwise I took the opportunity to use some colours I don't get to use very often (which is my favourite thing about mercs).
Until next round, stay frosty...

Khador - Front Line Jack

The request was for a heavily weathered look to the warjacks in this Khador army.  So I chipped the paint up and splattered some mud around.  I was fairly pleased with the result since this is the most weathered I have ever painted a mini.
I do have to add that the plastic Khador 'jacks are far easier to work with than the older metal ones.  Aside from being slightly bigger, they also have a bit more detail.
 Until next round...
...be well.

Khador - Hammer Girl

There is a second Khador force in the works, for the same client the Blood Bowl minis were for.  It seems that he has noticed the meteoric rise of Warmachine on our sleepy little island and jumped in with both feet.
This army is being given the "dirty trench dweller" theme.  The bases are getting a bunch of broken crud and mud on the boots of the grunts and 'jacks.  The warcasters and officers don't get as much mud (being high rank is useful).
The biggest challenge on this project was keeping the colours slightly different than the other Khador.  They have grey as the secondary colour, so for these I went with a coal black (p3) based grey.
More to come, until then be well.

Khador - Been a While...

It has been a little too quiet around here....so I'm going to fix that in the next few days for there has been much progress!!  Exhibit 'A; Kodiak.'
For this 'jack I swapped the 'Northern Army' colour scheme around which brings him closer to the studio scheme.  While working on this guy I remembered that I enjoy painting grey as much as red.
I'm still working on this army, and there are more finished minis to come...
Until next round, be well.

Khador - Heavy Infantry

The Northern Army continues to grow, the latest members are these man'o'wars.  Khador doesn't build light 'jacks but they do build some of the heaviest infantry.
These guys were pre-assembled when the client got them, with upside-down shoulder pads and all, but I think I managed to make them look decent.
Well, back to painting, be well.

Khador - A Prince in Red

I am painting a lot of Khador these days, and Vlad here is one of the recently finished.  This model is an older sculpt, and he has some minor issues, but the intricate details make him a good painting exercise.
I hear Vlad can be awesome on the table, but I have yet to face him in the wild, now that he is painted I might get the chance.
His cloak got a touch of freehand, just some anvils to add some detail to all that space.
I am looking forward to the next Warmachine expansion so I can find out what happens when he learns that the Harbinger is invading his hometown while he is making allies  with the other half of the Northern Crusade.
Until next round, be well.

Khador - Berserker Sorceror

Every so often I finish a model and am 100% happy with it, The Butcher here is one of those models.  I like the way everything turned out on him, specifically his face.  There is so much rage packed in there...
Being a character grade model, I was extra light on my highlights using thinned down paints.  Watering/thinning down highlights ill make the paint translucent, allowing the previous colours to show through.
His skin tone began with warlock purple (gw) and then highlighted with regular flesh tones like tanned flesh (gw) and midlund flesh (p3).  You know how when a person is so angry they turn the same shade as a beet?  That is the look I was going for.
I just finished emptying out the card on the camera and now my desktop is filled with folders, each one containing a post-worth of pictures....
Until next round, be well.

Khador - Solid Metal

More red, and a heavy one at that!  (But does Khador make anything that isn't heavy?)  This guy is one of those old metal beasties, and he weighs a ton.  My arm was getting sore just painting him, but he does make a satisfying thud when placed on a table.
I have been finding that warjacks and warbeasts are really fast and easy to do, and fun too!  These monsters are what WarmaHordes is about after all.
This is the tip of the iceberg for me and Khador, stay tuned for more red!
Until next round, be well.

Khador - Sniper Team

Here is the first finished unit for the Northern Army, a quartet of widowmakers.  I really like the widowmaker models, they have lots of character, details and one of the most awesome unit leaders in the faction (model wise, not rules wise).
Until next round, be well.

Khador - Black Oil and Smoke

The Northern Army isn't above hiring a couple of shady mercenaries, like Gorman di Wulfe.  It makes sense since this guy can be really annoying on the tabletop with his smoke and oil.
This is one of those Warmachine models that is really fun to paint, even though he is a single piece and a static pose.  There are a lot of folds (which are always nice to paint) and a few interesting details to bring out the character.
For Gorman, I reversed the colour scheme making the red secondary and bringing the grey up to primary.  I think this helps to make him look shady while keeping him withing the established pallet.  The greens might show up on future models like widowmakers and other infantry.
Until next round, be well.

Khador - On Foot

The Drakhun needed a walking version, for when he knocked off his horse, and this model was sent to fill that role.  Although it isn't the actual model (and he is missing his shield and helmet) it should suffice without any problem.
Next up for this army is Gorman all dressed up in Khador colours!
Until next round, be well.
